Latham Lumber & Pallet Company, Inc. was established in 1977 by Frank and Karen Chandler. Originally founded as a lumber and pallet manufacturer, the company transitioned into hardwood mulch production in the early 1980s.  Determined to make an impression on a then up-and-coming market, Frank and Karen purposed to develop unique processing techniques and trademarked materials.  In the coming years, Latham Lumber, Inc. introduced several new hardwood mulch products to the tri-state area, setting the precedents for color, consistency, and quality in the hardwood mulch industry.

In May of 1993, Frank passed away unexpectedly.  Karen led the company over the next 30 years, striving to offer the best natural products available year after year. 

In 2024, Frank and Karen's daughter and son-in-law, Sarah and Michael Moore (and children, Gracie and Carter), assumed sole management of the company.
